I printed my X-Spot ticket last night. I spent a little time poking around the site some more. In addition to the stage performances here are the artists so far who are going to be doing workshops on the Back Porch Stage:

David Grisman
Carolina Chocolate Drops
New Monsoon
Tony Rice
Del McCoury
Sam Bush
The Back Pork Workshop Stage lineup alone is it's own festival. Last year I sat mesmerized listening to Wayne Henderson play and admit he "fancied himself a pretty good picker".
Yeah, and the Grand Canyon is a hole in the ground.

these things always look great on paper.
i went to HARDLY STRICTLY in SF this year.... well i went one day. that was a LOT of humanity there..... wow, there were a lot of people.... whooo---eeeeeee my lord!
i had intended to go on sunday, but after diving into the throng for folk on saturday... i couldnt do it again.
"see that mass of 20,000 people in the meadow? david grisman is playing mandolin in the corner. if you walk past five thousand people into the middle of the pack there is a speaker where you can hear ok."

Floyd is a smaller festy. I thing the highest attendance is about 12-14K

FF is capped at 8000 for on-site camping. Walk-ups and day passes are typically about 2K more. Two years ago Grisman drew the largest Floyd crowd ever at ~11,200 and despite the crowd, you could still move easily up and down the field in front of the main stage.
I may be biased, but FloydFest is better in real life than it is on paper.

I wasn't sure of the exact figure. I knew that 2 years ago was the largest crowd . Three years ago the most unpleasant crowd I've encountered at Floyd and even then it wasn't too bad.
I have enjoyed Floydfest immensely over the past few years...missed last year completely though.
I am struggling with some personal issues that may prevent me from attending this year, but I hope to overcome the problem before then.
